INHIBITION OF SUGARS ABSORPTION : POMACTIV® CQR


EffeCts :

  • Decrease the entrance of sugars into the adipocytes.

Sugar transformation and storage in the fat cells

Mechanisms of action :

    Phloridzin and quercetin are competitive inhibitors of sugar transmembrane absorption.

Phloridzin is a trap molecule which misleads the receptor responsible for the introduction of glucose into cells. Phloridzin affinity with this receptor is 1000 times superior to the glucose one.
Glucose is the sole molecule able to cross the cellular membrane. Phloridzin has the capacity to fix on the glucose receptor to make it momentary not available for the assimilation of surrounding glucose.
Quercetin has the same effect than phloridzin on glucose receptor, but it is also able to fix on other sugar receptor (galactose, rhamnose...)
One of the main roles of adipocytes (fat cells) is to store the excess of sugar into fat. By limiting the quantity of sugars assimilated by the cells, their accumulation and transformation into lipids is limited.

Pomactiv® Cqr slimness properties have been proved by in vitro studies. Morphological observations made on cells cultures, grown on a medium promoting the differentiation of the pre-adipocytes into adipocytes, gave the following results.

Morphological studies of cells cultures through coloration of intracellular lipidic masses have shown that Pomactiv® Cqr extract significantly inhibits lipids accumulation into differentiated cells.
These results have been confirmed by further studies regarding the expression of genes involved in pre-adipocyte/adipocyte differentiation. Pomactiv® Cqr repress the expression of PPARζ gene (Peroxisome Proliferator Activited Receptor Gamma). The increase of PPARζ rate is related to the increased differenciation of pre-adipocytes into adipocytes. By repressing its expression, Pomactiv® Cqr limits the capacity of pre-adipocytes to develop into adipocytes.

To confirm in vivo the results obtained in vitro, Val de Vire Bioactives undertook a clinical study to prove the slimming/anti-cellulite effectiveness of Pomactiv® Cqr.
This study was carried out on 20 women aged 35 to 60 years old. During 4 weeks, they have applied to their thighs and hips a slimming gel containing 0.4% of Pomactiv® Cqr.
