TISSUE RENEWAL EFFECT : POMACTIV® CQR
EffeCts :
- Antioxidant protection
- Stimulation of the tissue renewal

MECHANISMS OF ACTION :
Skin wellbeing is related to the abundance of collagen and elastin, which characterizes its elasticity and also relies on the balance between proteins synthesis and degradation. Many molecules are responsible for the regulation of this system: growth factors, cytokines, receptors, enzymes (proteases), proteins of structure (collagen, elastin). Pomactiv® Cqr acts on the expression of many genes taking part in the dermal renewal process.

The efficiency of Pomactiv® Cqr was demonstrated by in vitro test made on aged dermal fibroblasts (cf. Antioxidant effect). The screening of the genes showed the action of Pomactiv® Cqr on anti-ageing markers, and its capacity to relaunch the renewal process of aged fibroblasts. The study gave the results hereafter:
- Modification of the expression of the growth factors, cytokines, and receptors.
- Significant modification of the expression of some collagen genes.
- Overexpression of the decorin gene; decorin is a protein often used as anti-wrinkle marker: The rate of decorin is regarded as good marker of the potential formation or disappearance of wrinkles. This protein is essential for the control and the correct collagen formation.
- Repression of an inflammatory gene marker: the excessive production of prostaglandin (PGE) is an inflammatory marker. The PGE acts by means of a receptor, here repressed by Pomactiv® Cqr. Thus, the inflammation is less expressed.
- Overexpression of the telomerase gene: the senescence of cells means a deceleration, then a irreversible stop of their multiplication. The senescence markers are morphological deterioration, shortening of the telomers, and loss of the proliferative process. The enzyme telomerase is the only one able to maintain the size of the telomers, and thus to restore the proliferative potential of the cells.
- Regulation of the proteases genes: Proteases are essential in the restructuring of proteins making up the support of the skin.
To confirm in vivo the results obtained in vitro, Val de Vire Bioactives undertook a clinical study to prove the anti-wrinkle capacity of Pomactiv® Cqr.
This study was carried out on 20 women aged 35 to 60 years old. During 4 weeks, they applied an anti-wrinkle face cream containing 0.4% of Pomactiv® Cqr.
The anti-wrinkle activity was measured by surface profilometry at the crow’s foot level after 14 and 28 days. A significant reduction of the wrinkles depth was observed:
- -18% after 14 days*
- -20% after 28 days*
* In comparison with Day0
This volunteer saw her crow’s foot wrinkles depth decreased by 50% in 28 days.
